Following his attempt to impeach Dick Cheney in 2007, U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich, a former Democratic presidential contender, said Monday he wants the House of Representatives to consider a resolution to impeach President George W. Bush.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi consistently has said impeachment was “off the table.” The Democratic Party are hesitant to cause a scene on the sidelines of the Presidential Election that could distract voters. Kucinich read his proposed impeachment language, which resembled that used against Cheney in 2007, in a floor speech Monday 9 June 2008. According to Tom D’Antoni of the Huffington Post, 35 Articles of Impeachment were delivered. Only one Article is required to justify the impeachment of the president. He contended Bush deceived the nation and violated his oath of office in leading the country into the Iraq war. Kucinich’s efforts to impeach Vice President Dick Cheney were unsuccessful. That resolution was killed, but only after Republicans initially voted in favor of taking up the measure to force a debate. Despite this failure, Kucinich has been widely commended for the motion. Kucinich won 50 percent of the vote in a five-way House Democratic primary in March, beating back critics who said he ignored business at home to travel the country in his quest to be president.

Yesterday, the House voted 251-166 to send the 35 Articles of Impeachment introduced on Monday to the House Judiciary Committee.
ImpeachBush.org is initiating a full-scale grassroots campaign to pressure the House Judiciary Committee to act on HRes 1258, the Articles of Impeachment for George W. Bush. It is now the Judiciary Committee’s obligation to hold impeachment hearings.
CSJ, Why has this not made it to ANY of the news people yet? I saw a tiny little blip in the newspaper, about one paragraph long- but that was all. There has been no news coverage at all as to what is going on in the House, except the oil prices and how the House is discussing fuel conservation and or renewable resources for energy. Dennis happens to be my Representative and I am DAMN proud to say so. My mom refers to him as ‘Dennis the Menace’; but he has more than enough substantial evidence to impeach Bush, if not just impeach, but put him up for trial for High Treason. …..
